Exciting News – Our School is Taking Part in the MS Readathon! 📚

22nd Oct 2025

We are thrilled to announce that Scoil N.Mhuire will be taking part in the MS Readathon this year! The MS Readathon is a fun, inspiring event that encourages children to read as much as they can while raising funds to support people living with multiple sclerosis (MS). All classes will receive their information pack this week and a note has been sent out via Aladdin too.

 📅 When is it happening?

The MS Readathon will run from November 1st 2025 until December 15th 2025. During this time, students are encouraged to set their own reading goals and record the books they complete.

📝 How to get involved

  1. Visit https://www.msreadathon.ie/ and click “Register”.
  2. Register your child under our school, Cloneygowan National School (Roll Number 18115Q). We are not split up into classes, so no need to click anything for this feature.
  3. Help them set a reading goal and start fundraising by sharing their profile with friends and family.

💡 Why take part?

  • Encourages a love of reading: Students discover new books and stories while building reading confidence.
  • Teaches empathy and social responsibility: Children learn about helping others and supporting a great cause.
  • Builds literacy skills: Regular reading strengthens vocabulary, comprehension, and creativity.
  • Supports people living with MS: Funds raised go directly to the MS Society to provide essential services and support programs.

It’s a perfect time to consider joining the local library in Mountmellick, Portarlington or Tullamore and help your child to develop a love of reading. This is free to do and they have a wealth of audio books, picture books, sensory supports and more to offer.

We can’t wait to see our students dive into reading adventures while making a difference in the lives of others. Thank you for supporting this meaningful initiative.
