Irish Aid

Projects

The seventh millennium development goal is to ensure environmental sustainability.
We in Cloneygowan National School are working locally to improve environmental awareness. We realize we need to spread the word; locally , nationally and globally to make a difference .
Our Greenschools programme has educated us on litter, waste, energy , water, transport and now Bio diversity .
Our Irish aid project has educated us on how important these are to the whole world and the difference we, as children, can make to countries like Malawi.

Please help us do our bit.

  • Reduce Reuse Recycle
  • Save Energy
  • Conserve Water
  • Be Aware of your Carbon Footprint
  • Buy Fair trade products.

Be Aware, show care and let’s share the Earth’s resources.

I
RISH AID IN MALAWI
Irelands initial support to Malawi started during the food crisis in 2002 The Irish government approved the opening of a new Irish Embassy in Malawi in November 2007. The goal of the Malawi country programme strategy ( 2010-2014 ) is to ensure households are better nourished, food secure and less vulnerable to poverty.
The strategy is sharply focused on food, nutrition, security and governance. The Irish and U.S ambassadors in Malawi signed a 3 year frame work agreement to help Malawi in its fight against hunger and food insecurity with the Irish government spending an additional 1.5 million euro to support this new agreement in 2010 and a commitment to spend the same amount in 2011.

There are eight millennium development goals. These development goals are the things the world needs to do to improve our world for people everywhere.
1. Stamp out poverty and hunger.
2. Educate every child.
3. Promote gender equality.
4. Reduce child mortality.
5. Improve maternal health.
6. Fight infectious diseases.
7. Ensure environmental sustainability
8. Work together to make the world a better place.

Despite repeated global pledges to protect the planets species and habitats- and the goods and services they provide - the variety of life on earth continues to decline. Human activities are the cause.

PLEASE STOP HARMING THE ENVIRONMENT!
